Art Nouveau messing elegant dish
Now this is what I am always on the lookout for, elegant artifacts from the great art nouveau era, elegant ladies, flowing forms, natural shaped curves.
This dish of cast messing answers to all of my usual requirements.
There is no marks or indication of who made this, or when it was made, but this is typical early 1900s.
It has the same sort of lovely, flowing, elegant and intricate patterns engraved so indicative of the art nouveau style so alive in that time. This style was very much in fashion from around 1890 to 1920, especially in Paris, Brussels, Gent and Antwerp where luckily many artifacts and buildings in this style survived.
Length: 5.5 inch (15 cm)
Width: 4.2 inch (11 cm)
Weight: 400 grams
Overall it is in a very good condition. It is a very solid piece, feels heavy in the hand. The metal is a bit tarnished, which adds to the style and beauty.
