The butterfly is crocheted from 26 gauge sterling silver plated wire that is tarnish proof. Swarovski clear Aurora Borealis crystals are imbedded into the design. This is done by stringing the crystals onto the wire first; then crocheting them into the pattern. (This means you gotta have a plan before you start crocheting.) Different sizes and shapes of these crystals are applied to create the butterfly’s body of light and shifting colors.
There is also a matching sterling and crystal dangle suspended from the back to add a little movement.
The mechanism on the back is a silver snap barrette.
This allows the butterfly to be very versatile.
Can be worn as:
1) Necklace enhancer
2) Hair barrette
3) Brooch or shawl pin on a loosely knit garment.
