This lovely antique art print portrait of Queen Charlotte painted by Thomas Gainsborough was cut from the pages of a book entitled Famous Paintings, volume 2 which was printed in 1916.
Queen Charlotte (1744-1818) was the wife of King George III of Great Britain and Ireland, and a lover of the arts, so perhaps she can serve now as the cheering squad of all your artistic endeavors.
Containing warm rich colors in all shades of brown, gold, pale peach and grey, she makes for stunning neutral home decor and will definitely warm up any little spot you place her in. Printed on a high quality linen paper stock, the portrait is mounted on a thick tea-colored paper matte that contains very light foxing. Most of the foxing occurs on the back of the paper matte.
The art print measures 9" inches (width) x 12.5" inches (length).
About the artist: Thomas Gainsborough ( 1727-1788) was one of the greatest portrait and landscape painters in all of England. His portraits of the King and Queen opened the doors to many other successful royal commissionings which set him on a course of influence in English artist circles and within the Royal Academy. In the later years of his life and career he focused mostly on landscapes although he remains best known for his portrait work.
